Finn’s Neutral, Timeless, Newborn Session
Brianna, Finn’s Mum is a very talented photographer herself, so I was really chuffed when she asked me to photograph her precious new baby.
Finn came in to the studio when he was just 7 days new. I saw him and actually melted. His gorgeous mop of black hair, beautiful creamy skin and baby rolls and cheeks for days almost had me clucky….almost hehe!
His session went off with out a hitch. He slept, fed, slept some more and didn’t even really wake up at all that morning! I don’t even think he pooped on any of my blankets! Now not all sessions run this smooth, so if you are reading this thinking that your baby’s session wasn’t quite like this or that your baby pooped on everything, rest assured most do!
Mum specifically requested a no prop, no frills session. She wanted to keep the images timeless and neutral, with a strong focus on her baby. I think together, we achieved her vision perfectly. As Finn was quite sleepy throughout his session, we did decide to put him in a bucket. Just so when he’s older he can ask his Mum and Dad, “why did you put me in a bucket?”….
Newborns are only so small for such a short amount of time and as a Mum and a photographer I feel it is so important to have all these memories captured on film so we can remember every little detail. The newborn stage is fleeting! We blink….and suddenly our tiny, new babies are crawling, walking and then we blink again and they are off to their first day of school!
